LT Studio has been delighted to work with LTS Architects on the redevelopment of a site which has provided a new hotel and retail units at Borough High Street in London.
There is a distinct need to provide a considered response to public connections and the public realm, making reference to the historic layout which includes hops warehouses on the site. As such, our proposals reinforce the historical context of the local area and combine it with recognition of the historic character and urban grain of the yards.
The landscape design proposals seek to create a series of distinct but interconnected public spaces that will revitalise the yards with active uses and frontages bringing a focus away from Borough High Street and reinvigorate a neglected part of the street.
Key to the proposals is a large public courtyard created by widening Spur Inn Yard – referencing the historic inn yards of Southwark. This will provide access to the hotel and retail units with the potential for outdoor dining space.
This project was completed in December 2017.
