Team Day – Pottery Throwdown!

On Thursday 16th May we attended a Pottery course with Trevor Lillistone Ceramics at his pottery studio at Bath Artists’ Studios. The session was for complete beginners and aimed to teach us the basic fundamentals for ‘throwing’ (spoiler alert: you don’t actually ‘throw’ the clay anywhere!)

As you can see from the pictures, it’s a lot harder than it looks! Trying to ‘center’ the clay was something that we all struggled with, as was the process of trying to pull the clay up to make it taller. However, despite a few fails (and a lot of mess!), we all managed to create 3 pieces that resembled a proper piece of pottery.

As you can see from the images below, our pottery masterpieces have all been beautified, glazed and fired and are already in use! We are all pretty impressed with our efforts and are looking forward to taking our works of art home (carefully!) to show off to all our friends and families.
