Bath Abbey Footprint Project

LT Studio has been instructed on all RIBA stages for this £19.3M project to design the landscape for Bath Abbey as part of the Footprint project team. A focal point of the brief Where Heaven and Earth Meet is to engage with the public realm in a more welcoming, accessible manner appropriate to a building of this status at the heart of a World Heritage City to provide improved access for all, introducing landscape to surprise and delight and encourage visitors to linger both inside and outside the Abbey.

The proposals comprise a programme of works to enable Bath Abbey to serve the congregation, the people of Bath, pilgrims and visitors from around the world. The landscape proposals shall complement the built form below ground and open up the area in terms of light, access and legibility.

The public realm proposals could include street furniture, art installations, a water feature, planters and trees to help create a sense of place in the courtyard. Concept design development is ongoing.
